Dallas EEOC sues Charleston, Raleigh companies in employment harassment case

In a news release about the lawsuit, Barnes said, “This case is a reminder to employers that they must provide a harassment-free environment for their employees, regardless of who the perpetrators of the harassment are. Third parties can create a sexually hostile work environment for a company’s employees, and that is just as illegal.”

The EEOC has requested a jury trial. It is seeking damages for the three women and any others found to have been harassed. The EEOC is also asking the court to require the two companies to eliminate unlawful employment practices, said Weinberg Law Firm, Employment Lawyer Dallas.

Los Angeles Wrong Way DUI – Who Should We Believe?

LOS ANGELES - Mr. Schuler has had issues with drinking in the past. In 1995, Mr. Schuler was arrested for DWI. While this was 15 years ago, it certainly hurts his credibility. The five year old survivor may be the only one who will be able to tell investigators what was really going on, but even then, the story will be incomplete. Suffolk County Child Services is now investigating Mr. Schuler, to see if he had any role in the events leading up to the crash, said Michael Bialys, California DUI lawyer. Mr. Schuler’s own independent investigator stated that the vodka bottle found near the crash may have been packed by Mr. Schuler earlier that day. If she doesn’t drink, why was a bottle of vodka packed?

Military Criticized in Report on Soldier Electrocution in New York

Sergeant Maseth’s family has filed a lawsuit against KBR. Cheryl Harris, his mother, said in a statement she read over the telephone that she was pleased that the inspector general had conducted the investigation, said John Q. Kelly, New York electrocution attorney.
“The results are revealing and contrary to what KBR and its president have continuously stated,” her statement said.

The Criminal Defense Lawyer as a Hero

''No. It's not the easiest time to make a lawyer a sympathetic character,'' admits Mr. Kelley, the producer and creator of ''The Practice,'' a new legal dramatic series beginning on ABC Tuesday night at 10 p.m.

Still, it must be mentioned here that Mr. Kelley -- the Orange County criminal defense lawyer of CBS's ''Chicago Hope'' and that network's formerly long-running ''Picket Fences,'' as well as a significant contributor to NBC's 1980's powerhouse ''L.A Law'' -- does not appear all that daunted by the prospect.

''We're not trying to sell lawyering as a profession,'' says the boyish-looking Mr. Kelley, during an interview in the studio building that Twentieth Century Fox Television is currently renovating for him. ''We're obviously hoping to create a group of lawyers that people will attach themselves to emotionally and care about.''

By Michael Tutton (CP) – 4 hours ago

HALIFAX, N.S. — The families of passengers who died in the crash of a Sikorsky helicopter off Newfoundland and the sole survivor of the tragedy have "voluntarily discontinued" their lawsuit against the U.S. company in hopes of reaching a settlement.

Fifteen passengers and the survivor launched a lawsuit in June in the Philadelphia court of common pleas, alleging that Sikorsky, Keystone Helicopters and their parent company, United Technologies Corp., made false claims about the aircraft's safety.

Suit filed over Pittsburgh DUI crash that killed 5

The Associated Press

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The families of five people killed in a fiery 2007 crash are suing a convicted drunken driver and two bars that served him for negligence and wrongful death.

A lawsuit filed in Monongalia County Circuit Court names Brian Stone, Automatic Slim's Hot Spot and Novichenk's Tailgater's Pub 2 as defendants.

The complaint says bar employees knew or should have known Mr. Stone was already impaired when they served him the night of the crash. Police said his blood alcohol content was nearly three times the state's legal limit.

Calls to Novichenk's and the owner of the Hot Spot went unanswered today.
